Lipton Ice Tea needed an activation that would sustain their ‘Never lose your cool’ proposition and its momentum since the launch of the world’s first floating vending machine. To ensure that consumers stay refreshed we developed the Tea-mometer – a temperature activated vending machine.
The vending machine cools consumers down according to their body temperature (and heart rate). Those recording higher levels are cooled down with multiple samples distributed according to their needs.
The Tea-mometer was launched at UCT main campus on the 13th of Februaury. Making use of touchscreen technology, the life-size Lipton Ice Tea can structure encourages consumers to ‘warm up’ in the queue to ensure optimal cooling down returns. With body temperature being the currency at this machine, getting warmed up is crucial before cooling down. Hula hoops, dancing, and running up and down stairs are all encouraged in preparation.
Social media sharing remains a pivotal aspect of the brief so iPads are on hand to record the warm up and cool down moments so that the experiences can be shared online.
This latest Lipton Ice Tea installment has been a huge success nationally, grabbing the attention of bloggers and the media alike! It will be visiting university campuses, shopping malls and music festival sites throughout the final summer months.
