Overview:

ELEVATOR was originally established in 2009 to offer brands memorable, creative and strategic solutions for their below-the-line marketing needs. As the business has grown, so has our service offer and we now have four core units; Elevator Intergrated (offering Intergrated BTL solutions), Elevator People (offering staffing solutions), Elevator Engage (offering business-to-business and employee engagement services) and Elevator Digital (offering Digital services).

What we need:

You will be an excitable and creative individual most likely from a copywriting background, but way more than just a great wordsmith. You will be a strategic thinker, who understands how to turn research into insights. You will have a strong conceptual ability and have the confidence to share ideas, even when they seem ridiculous. You will have the ability to articulate ideas in a way that our clients not only understand, but love. You will be on the pulse of current local, national and international trends relating to consumers, brands and live experiences. You will have an understanding of SA consumer demographics and an ability to think across racial profiles.

The role will see you playing a vital role in conceptualizing original solutions and ensuring they are grounded both in brand and consumer insight as well as our clients brief.

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Receiving briefs from our client service team and interrogating them deeply and holistically to uncover what is truly needed to achieve the clients objectives
  • Analysing the strategic need from a consumer and brand insights perspective
  • Leading the process in gathering these insights, making sense of them, and conveying them in a digestible and powerful way to our clients
  • Playing a central role in thinking up and developing fresh concepts that achieve the sometimes difficult balance or being pioneering whilst also grounded in insights and our clients brief and objectives
  • Leading the ideation process of brainstorming and linked desk work to distil and develop ideas
  • Demonstrating the strategic underpinning of ideas through explanation, diagrams and other methods as appropriate
  • Creating client facing presentations that are not formulaeic, predictable of wordy; presentations that tell stories and grab the attention of often busy minded people
  • Maintaining an attention to detail. This is more than just avoiding typos. Ensuring that all elements of the brief are covered and being thorough in your approach to all your work
  • Writing creative briefs for visual elements and providing feedback on artwork and designs that help in selling your ideas. A visual understanding and mindset is a very helpful element of this role.
  • Writing the words/script required to communicate and explain the idea to clients in presentations
  • Developing key copy and names that play a central part in our conceptual ideas
  • Presenting concepts to clients in a confident, engaging and occasionally unusual way
  • Mentoring junior colleagues in a professional and caring way that ensures the team grows together
  • Keeping regulalar tabs on your emails and diary, so you are on top of what is going on and are able to independently able to prioritise work and manage your time to ensure best outcomes
  • Ensuring work is delivered on time and deadlines are met

 

Technical Knowledge, Skills | Abilities & Qualifications

  • Formal copywriting or marketing strategy qualification relevant to the position (not negotiable)
  • Min 3 years agency experience (not negotiable), ideally with bias towards BTL
  • Strong conceptual ability (not negotiable)
  • A passion for brand strategy (not negotiable)
  • Good understanding of consumer dynamics and the full racial spectrum of the SA marketplace (not negotiable)
  • Finger on the pulse’ individual, aware and up to date regarding local and international brand and consumer trends
  • Good communication skills: both written and verbal
  • Must be able to manage time and work to tight deadlines
  • Great organization skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to multitask (manage multiple creative briefs at one time)

Senior Art Director

SCOPE

This job forms part of the Creative Department.  The function of the department includes, but is not limited to, concept development, art direction, copywriting, design, artwork creation and DTP.  The creative team is responsible for ensuring that all visuals produced and copy written is of the highest standard.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose is to play a leading role within our art and design team, monitoring and, where necessary, art directing all visual content that leaves the agency. In addition, the roll will require the individual to generate creative material and to play a key role in the wider creative team conceptualising concepts across below-the-line channels

KEY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

Art Direction

  • Interpret creative briefs and help conceptualise the visual solution
  • Oversee full brief from Accounts to Creative for campaign artwork and guide juniors in the development process
  • Fulfill an important role in brainstorming sessions with wider creative team, both conceptually and visually
  • Ability to develop and draw creative threads between individual ideas to form campaigns and not just individual executions
  • Ability to ‘tell stories’ through the development of concise and powerful visual presentations that persuade our clients
  • Generating original visual executions that are both exciting and creatively attractive
  • Constantly pushing design boundaries so that work always feel fresh and plays an essential part in making ideas sing
  • Ability to develop a wide range of creative – from simplistic and detail orientated elements through to more conceptual drawings

Creative Design and Artwork

  • Creating visual solutions across multiple communication channels
  • Push current skillsets, whether web, html or illustration, to help ensure continued growth
  • Champion the Elevator Brand, constantly developing it and ensuring the quality of all internal and external communication.
  • Deliver artwork for print if applicable

 

Administrative

  • Receive and respond to task related emails

  • Identify opportunities to make use of internal and external resources (external freelance creatives) and provide visual direction when applicable
  • As part of business processes, debrief projects with ECD and list out possible areas to improve on. Measure growth.
  • Take full responsibility for finished artwork

Scope:

Working closely with the Creative & Accounts Department, the Traffic Manager will develop scheduled timelines for all jobs and serve as the central contact point for all work that flows through the Elevator creative team.

 

Purpose:

The Traffic Manager’s purpose is to assign specific people to the steps required to complete a job.

Constant monitoring of resource requirements and alerting the appropriate staff. Ensuring all work will be completed within the scheduled timelines. As needed, the Traffic Manager will work with the Account Managers to adjust job deadlines as needed while still meeting the Client’s needs.

 

Key Performance Areas (KPA):

Schedules

  • Draft schedules to ensure work flows through the various stages and is completed on time.
  • Distribute schedules to various stakeholders working on campaigns, highlight key dates for review and approval of work.
  • Schedule and lead production meetings to review progress and recommend reallocation of resources to keep production on deadline.

Coordination

  • Successful coordination of work to agency stakeholders or service providers.
  • Ensure the scope of work, schedules and budgets are communicated to Accounts & Creative team.
  • Work with all departments to identify and maintain the freelance service provider database.

Control

  • Intake all department jobs, administer creative process control
  • Utilize Magnetic to track jobs and allow easy accessibility to stakeholders
  • Create and evolve tracking processes to make tracking projects more efficient and accessible. ELEVATOR uses Magnetic as a project management tool
  • Monitor daily activities and deadlines.
  • Monitor schedules and workloads of all creative freelance creative staff.
  • Work with wider team to ensure projects are delivered accurately and invoiced on time and within estimated budget.

Administration

  • Using Magnetic, to monitor and track jobs on an individual basis.
  • Analysis of time sheets completed by creative team members.
